While experimenting with different ingredients in search of the "perfect" cookie, Hillary Souza came up with the idea behind Veronica's Treats. The results were outstanding, and the cookies constantly sold out at her and her husband Scott's restaurant. So in late 2002, Hillary decided to start a novel enterprise to distribute her popular, freshly baked cookies more widely.
With the encouragement of her husband, Hillary converted half of their restaurant space to a bakery, borrowed the name of their daughter, Veronica, and introduced Veronica's Treats. Hillary started selling photo and logo cookies locally. Noticing how quickly the distinctive cookies were selling, she created a website to market her confections on the Internet.
Continued success spurred Hillary to add several other confections and gifts to her product line. Demand for the diversified confections was so great that Veronica's Treats eventually moved into its own 2500 sq. foot baking facility. Veronica's Treats now has a staff of 15 to keep up with demand.
